Accessibility

Nipman Foundation is a partner to the Accessible India Campaign, Government of India. It is the accessibility partner of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Jaipur Literary Festival, Serendipity Arts Festival, NH7 Weekender, Auto Expo and consists of a team of access auditors that have audited the Parliament, Delhi High Court, Supreme Court, Election booths, Rajghat and leading Indian corporates like the Tata’s.

The foundation has worked with the CISF/BCAS, to ease security procedures for the PwD’s, India’s biggest restaurant aggregator Zomato, to add wheelchair access filters to restaurants and has given presentations at corporate giants like Deloitte, Accenture, Goldman Sachs etc. Apart from conducting sensitization workshops, the CEO of Nipman Foundation has filed multiple cases against the Delhi government in the Delhi High Court demanding a mobility audit of Delhi, roll back of the Odd-Even scheme, and increase in the number of low floor accessible buses.

Attitudes

Our annual flagship event, ‘Nipman Foundation – Equal Opportunity Awards' recognizes organizations making significant contributions to the disabled in the workspace and lifestyles. The foundation has conducted sensitization workshops at leading corporates like Goldman Sachs, Deloitte, Accenture and government organizations like New Delhi Municipal Corporation and the Delhi Police. The Foundation CEO authored a comic ‘No red card for the disabled’ on the theme of inclusion for school children. On World Disability Day 2015, Flipkart (India’s biggest E – commerce website) shipped this comic for free to any customer who bought book on their website.

Affordability

The Foundation runs a crowd-sourcing platform connecting donors to those who cannot afford wheelchairs, Wheels For Life (www.wheelsforlife.in). When the Goods and Services Tax came into effect on 1st July 2017, disability aids that were earlier tax-free came under the 5% tax ambit. We filed a Public Interest Litigation in the Supreme Court of India demanding the tax on disability aids be reversed. The Court has issued notice to the central government.
